5 Ways to Spend Time With Jesus When You’re Busy

I’ll be the first to admit that there are days when I make excuses as to why I “don’t have time” to spend time with Jesus. But, I have discovered that not taking the time to be with the Lord actually makes me feel even busier. I feel even more stressed and more out of control! So, here are 5 easy ways to incorporate your worship into your everyday life, so you never have to be “too busy” for God again.

1.) Listen to Christian music.

I have listened to Christian music ever since I was born. I hardly even know of most of the secular music that is popular today. Of course there are bands that I like, for example, Coldplay, but I try to choose those bands/songs specifically to make sure that there isn’t anything bad in them. Not all non-Christian music is bad, but you have to discern whether or not you think the lyrics are pleasing to the Lord. But, with Christian music, you almost never have to worry about that! There are so many catchy songs that praise God!!! Christian music does not equal “lame music.” Trust me on this one! There are all different styles, just as with any other music. Anything from pop to rock, you’ll be able to find it! And the best part about music is that you can listen to it while doing other things. Listen while you clean, cook, or exercise!

2.) Listen to a Christian podcast.

This is very similar to tip #1. Find a good Christian podcast, and listen to it while you do your normal daily tasks. You can listen to it on your ride to school, during your daily treadmill walk, or while cooking dinner.

3.) Listen to your Bible.

See a theme here? Honestly, listening to your Bible as an audio book can be so helpful. Sometimes reading the Bible can feel “time-consuming” (even though it’s really not so bad!) but if you listen to your verses while going about your daily chores, you can listen to a lot of it at a time!

4.) Pray as you… do anything!

Annnnnnnd we continue the theme: be with God while you do other things! Pray while you walk. Pray while you drive. Pray while you eat. Pray while you lay in bed. Pray all the time! I mean seriously, you can always talk to God. This is such an easy way to make sure that you’re spending more time with the Lord. And prayer does not have to feel intimidating! You can just talk to Him like He’s your best friend, and He will always listen to you.

5.) Put down the phone… Just for a minute.

Scrolling on Instagram for hours every day? How about substituting half of that time (or all of it… just saying) with Jesus? Read your Bible, go for a prayer walk, or do any of the tips mentioned above. If you just have to be on your phone, make sure that the people you are following reflect the values that you want in your life. Follow Christian bloggers or influencers that will help bring you closer to God, not push you away from Him.

Now don’t forget: alone time with God with no distractions is really ideal, as it allows you to be in his presence uninterrupted. However, these tips are meant to help you spend even more time with the Lord when you’re feeling really busy! I hope that these little tricks will help you grow your relationship with Jesus this year!

Have a wonderful day, and God bless <3
