"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

“Oh, I didn’t get a chance to read the Bible today, I’ll do it tomorrow.”

Sound familiar? It seems like we often let our time with Jesus slip to the side each day. We justify it by saying we “didn’t have the time,” when in reality that’s almost never the truth. We did have time, and plenty of it- we just chose to waste that time doing something else. How do I know? Because I’m guilty of it too. But this year, I have made it a point to change that. Here are my top tips on how to make sure that I’m making time for Jesus, every single day.

1.) Wake up early.

This one doesn’t have to be difficult. Just set your alarm 15 minutes earlier than normal, and dedicate that time solely to reading your Bible and spending time in prayer. I love waking up early to spend time with the Lord in the peacefulness of the morning because I am able to focus on Him with no distractions. I would also recommend not checking your phone until after you’ve spent time with the Lord. This way, your mindset for the day will be shaped by the Word of God and not social media.

2.) Get a nice Bible & journal.

Having a cute Bible, journal, pens, and highlighters always encourages me to spend time studying the Word. I absolutely love the Zebra Midliners on Amazon because they have the cutest pastel colors! I have a Jeremiah Study Bible, but I have heard amazing things about Hosanna Revival Bibles (and they’re super pretty too!).

3.) Go for prayer walks.

What’s better than walking and talking? Walking and talking with Jesus! Seriously. Walking is good for your health, and talking to Jesus is good for your spirit. It doesn’t matter if you’re on the treadmill at the gym, hiking through the woods, or just walking to grab the mail. Make this the time to spend one-on-one time with the Lord.

4.) Make it a habit to pray about everything.

Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

This verse really sums it up. We need to pray in every situation. We can thank God for our morning coffee. We can ask Him to give us patience with the people at work or school. We can talk to Him about the burdens that are weighing on our hearts. The more we talk to Him, the more it will become second nature. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says: "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." We can thank Him, praise Him, and ask Him anything at all times of the day.

What are some ways that you like to spend time with the Lord each day? Let me know in the comments! <3
