Getting Unstuck.

It’s been a few months since I’ve written anything for the health portion of my blog, because to be honest, I’ve been really stuck.

Simple things like drinking enough water, eating enough food, and getting sleep have been challenging. I stopped working out, stopped eating balanced meals, and felt lethargic and fatigued for a good portion of the summer and early fall.

Luckily, last night I felt the nudge to get back into it. I prayed, read, and asked God for the strength and discipline to get “back on track” and live a healthy, productive lifestyle again. It’s not easy, but since I’ve started pushing myself again, I’ve felt so. much. better. Here are some ways that you can get back to treating your body as a temple and being productive again!

1.) Pray about it.

This has to be step number ONE!!! You cannot do it all by yourself. Trust me. I’ve tried that method, and it doesn’t work. Ever. Ask God for the strength to help you on your wellness journey. It’s not going to be easy. There will be days when you want to give up, but that’s when you must remember to lean on Him.

2.) Make a plan.

BUT, don’t make it too complicated. If your plan is too lengthy or contains objectives that are far too difficult to obtain, you will fail. Start small. Here’s an example:

  • Spend time with Jesus for at least 30 minutes in the morning before picking up my phone.

  • Drink water before having my morning coffee.

  • Move my body for at least 30 minutes every day, even if it’s just a walk.

  • Write down a meal plan for the day/week and eat mostly healthy foods.

3.) Create a Pinterest board!

It sounds silly, but having an aesthetic Pinterest board can be really helpful. Find cute pins that inspire you, and refer back to them whenever you feel your motivation slipping away. You can have a separate board for each goal, such as a prayer board, food board, etc.

4.) Stay disciplined.

The moments that you feel like giving up are the most crucial. If you give up in those moments, you let yourself down and create a habit of giving up. But, if you persevere, you will strengthen yourself. This will be the hardest part, but staying consistent is the only way to yield results.

Now, there will still be days that you get stuck, and that’s okay. When this happens, however, do not beat yourself up and quit. I used to struggle with that a lot; if I couldn’t do something perfectly, I didn’t think it was worth doing at all… but that is simply not the case. Something is always better than nothing.

Having self discipline is hard, but so is falling back into old, bad habits, and constantly not feeling well. Choose. Your. Hard.

Good luck :)
